Pink Weddings Guide to a Pink Wedding Theme
There is always beauty in pink. It’s a subtle color, but still makes a big impact. Planning a pink wedding is really exciting. I always think of princesses and fairy tales when I think about pink weddings. Don’t you? Pink is the softness in the red spectrum, but it can also be as hot as red. For instance, a soft subtle pink with white looks great in a country or vintage wedding theme, but that same pink with brown gives a more modern feel to the wedding theme. A magenta or fuchsia mixed with white is ultra contemporary and is a hot shade of pink.
A lot of brides today are choosing a pink wedding dress. Why? Because pink is pretty and feminine. It’s the color of romance. Most brides wear white on their wedding day. White signifies purity, innocence and clarity. To me, pink has always been the pureness of white with a dash of naughty red. Wearing pink wedding dresses is like adding a dose of passion to your dress. It’s the perfect complement to a romantic wedding theme. Pink is, in a word, sublime. But pink doesn’t have to be just soft and romantic. It can also be electric and sexy; like when you wear hot pinks. Pinks can also go well together. Meaning your bridesmaids and you can both wear a shade of pink. I’m all for pink wedding gowns, how about you? =)
Bridesmaid dresses are always hard to choose. Every girl has a different figure and, normally, not every dress flatters every figure. A-line skirts are one of the only skirt styles that flatter nearly all hips sizes. Empire waist dresses are another style that fits almost all body types; save a gal with a heavier upper body. A pink bridesmaid dress may sound great, but it also may not work with every gal. It’s not always easy to come up with the best dress for every bridesmaid, and maybe you don’t need to. There are ways, which I’ll discuss in a specific post, to get around the same old bridesmaid dress choices. Pink bridesmaid dresses look really great in wedding pictures, so that is always something to think about.
What every bridesmaid and bride has in common is the flowers they carry. Every wedding has its central flower and 70% of the time that’s roses (yes I made up that statistic (it’s probably more like 90% haha). Picking pink wedding flowers isn’t as easy as you may think. When it comes to the floral parts of the wedding, remember that a central flower will be used not only in the bouquets, but usually at all the tables and the ceremony. There are probably 1000 different flowers from which to choose, so it’s important to know which ones are available. Especially since not every flower is common in every season, and not every flower comes in pink. Using pink wedding flowers is a great way to focus your theme around your color.
Once you choose the flowers, you’re ready to choose your pink wedding bouquets. The flowers can be a mix of many different colors, with pink as the central theme. It’s not enough to just know the flower and them you want for your bouquet, it’s essential to learn the types of bouquets there are. If you’re not caught up on the lingo, you may not realize exactly what you’re looking for in terms of a pink wedding bouquet. In fact, you may not even realize the truly many different types of bouquets that the wedding party can carry.
The flower girl is another part of the wedding that needs coordinating. And little girls love to wear pink.
Beautiful pink flower girl dresses will be a huge hit at the ceremony. They always look so cute walking down the aisle throwing their little petals. And a little pink basket with a bow is the perfect addition to their dress.
Shoes are a huge part of the wedding ceremony. Many brides don’t realize how very crucial the right pair of shoes will be on their big day. While it’s fun to shop for pink wedding shoes, there are important factors to consider when you’re making the choice. And the great thing is you’re not limited to just pink shoes for your wedding. Pink goes with a lot of different colors. It looks fabulous with black, darker or lighter pinks, silver and even gold.
Part of the attire is the jewelry and other accessories. While there’s not a huge amount of pink wedding jewelry, there is a great deal of jewelry that goes with pink. Pearls are the first thing that comes to my mind, but there are other options. There are different types of jewelry to consider when coordinating your attire. Other things to consider are the wraps, clutches and especially the hair jewelry. I love a sexy or romantic hair accessory.
The last part of the wedding party’s coordinating is the makeup. You’ll want all the girls to have the same makeup and hairstyles. If you don’t have a stylist coming, picking out the right lip gloss, blush, lipstick etc. Knowing the right way to apply eye shadow is helpful as well.
The flowers have to be considered with the attire because of the bouquets, but other parts of the wedding have nothing to do with the attire. They just go with the pink wedding theme. The cake for instance is a huge centerpiece of any wedding and it’s important to know what types and styles are available. Although visiting a baker will give you an idea of taste, it’s still a good idea to have some knowledge about what types of cakes are available. There isn’t only the inside to think about, there’s the outside as well. Get to know your pink wedding cakes by reading about the different frosting types.
Speaking of cakes, you’ll want to learn about the other dessert types for your wedding as well. Things like pink wedding candy buffets and pink wedding cupcake towers (ooo can you taste those?). You can do these two types yourself quite easily (and a lot cheaper). Considering a wedding cake can be as much as $800 and a candy buffet can be self done for about $300ish, it’s quite a savings!
Pink wedding favors come in so ma
ny types that it’s difficult to narrow down any favorites. Having a large presentation of ideas is important for a bride and groom. After all, the wedding favors decorate every table at the reception and leave a lasting memory with each guest. There are all kinds of wedding favors to consider and not all are available in pink, but there are ways around that. If you want a particular type of favor, you can find ways to present it in pink.
The last part of any wedding is actually the first part. Pink wedding invitations are the first glimpse of your wedding that any of your guests will see. From the information on the invitations you can present the theme, color schemes and austerity of the wedding. It’s important to present the right image. Knowing the right places to get invitations, the right prices and the right printing styles, well that’s important because (oh look out I’m going cliche here) you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
If you’re planning any style of the hundreds of different pink weddings, this is the place you’ll find as much information as I can muster up. From pink wedding gowns to pink wedding invitations, there is a wealth of information for your coordinating.
