Pink Wedding Cakes, Cupcakes and Candy Buffets
One of the beautiful things about pink wedding cakes is that they can look any way you want them to. You can have a more romantic feel with butter cream frosting or a more modern cake with fondant frosting. What is important is getting your ideal cake.
The cake is one of the most important things about the wedding. It’s the centerpiece for a huge event. During the reception an entire time period is blocked off for the celebration, cutting and eating of the wedding cake. It’s an important tradition, but it’s not the only option for dessert. In fact some couples have two different kinds, one traditional and one nontraditional, just so they can have the cake cutting ceremony.
Another option for dessert is the candy buffet. It’s a relatively new tradition, but it’s a great one. A candy buffet is just like what it sounds; a buffet filled with candy. The pink candy buffet would be different candy dishes and holders that had various pink candies in them. However, if the containers and decorations around the table are pink, the candy doesn’t necessarily have to be pink.
The candy buffets are a big hit with both kids and adults. Two of the greatest things about candy buffets are that they’re easy to put together by the bridal pair and they’re really inexpensive, if you do it yourself. Get it hosted and you’re looking at a lot of money. Instead buy your candy from Amazon.com and you can get the containers there or at a thrift store. You’ll need about 1/4 pound to 1/2 a pound of candy per guest. Get hard candy and wrapped candy for the best looks. It’s not easy to find all pink candy, but you can find loads of cool pink ribbons and fabric to use on the table, as well as a neat tablecloth. One thing which makes it less expensive is to have small bags at the candy buffet, instead of unlimited ways to bring the candy back to the table.
Want to save even more money? Have individual candy buffets at each table. You can use them for the centerpieces. Now you’ve got a centerpiece and a dessert table all in one.
What you’ll need: scoops, containers, candy, tablecloth, pink fabric, ribbon, and favor bags.
The containers can have a lot of cute ideas like use plant potters instead of glass candy dishes. Add cookie jars and cookies to the center for even more fun.
Many couples are choosing a dessert table with cupcakes. Usually the cupcakes are placed in tiers on decorative plates. The great thing about cupcakes is they can be individually decorated to match numerous different color schemes. For example if you’re scheme is pink and brown (my favorite combo), then you can have chocolate cupcakes and strawberry cupcakes.
Fruit is another great dessert for a wedding. There aren’t many pink fruits unfortunately, but watermelon, guava and figs are a few.
An idea I’ve always treasured is the mixture of all candy buffet and cupcake tower. I love the idea of being able to choose all this pink candy and chocolate. Done well, the buffet style dessert table can be really beautiful or fun. It can be whatever you want.
The crucial element to the reception is not which type of dessert you use. A pink wedding cake, pink candy buffet or a cupcake tower, are all good choices. The crucial element is the enjoyment and fun the guests have. Whether that’s scarfing down cupcakes or, in the case of one wedding I went to, pinging people with M&Ms, it’ll be fun.
